The Process

Start by filling out our Client Intake Form

As a first step, please fill out our client intake form at the bottom of this page. We will reach out within one week.

Introductory phone or video call

We start with a 30-minute get-to-know-you call. We will debrief the intake form and discuss your goals. Then, we will discuss options outlined below and schedule a site visit.

Initial site visit and consultation
$350

The initial site visit takes about two hours. The $350 includes a detailed soil assessment and fertility plan. We like to walk the land, discuss its history, and listen to your desires for the place. We ask that everyone who will have input in the project is available for this meeting so everyone’s goals, concerns, etc. can be heard by the design team. Additional consultation is $100 per hour.

Concept Design - Base Price $1,200

This option is great for aspiring permaculturalists, folks who plan to do the labor themselves, or organizations who desire a project concept to guide the way.  It includes the following. Deliverables will be specific to the site and client, but may include:

  • Resource assessment: natural, financial and personal.

  • Reading the landscape to properly capture and use available resources.

  • Pencil sketch of design features, zones of production, siting structures, etc.

  • Keyline design.

  • Grazing plans.

  • Ecological restoration plans.

  • Garden/orchard design.

Design Retainer

This is an agreed-upon monthly or quarterly retainer fee that creates a support structure for management of your site as the complexity of the design develops over time. Unused fees can be redeemed for plant credit from our nursery.  These fees will help us support you in the following ways:

  • Adaptive management: as the complexity of your system emerges over time, unanticipated problems and opportunities present themselves. This ongoing support allows us to offer refinement and advice as your ecosystem emerges and changes.

  • Enterprise development: as ecosystems increase in health and diversity, the opportunities to integrate your livelihood with the care of the land also grow. We’re here to help explore those opportunities.

  • Our holistic decision making process helps us keep you tuned into your original intentions and allows better decisions to be made as new elements, animals, structures, etc. are introduced.

  • Other potential collaborations? Because we’re in the middle of the process ourselves, these long-term design relationships can be more akin to a mutual aid network. We are open to the living nature of relationships with like-minded folks who care about making livelihood from the land.
